TEEN DRIVER’S EDUCATION
We administer the Colorado Driver’s License Test at our Lakewood location. We’ll test in one of our vehicles or yours with one passing attempt. Community Driving School is a DMV-approved third-party Colorado Driver’s License Testing facility.

ADULT DRIVER’S LICENSE TESTING IN LAKEWOOD, CO
Community Driving School is a DMV-approved third-party testing facility in Lakewood. Take your Colorado Driver’s License Test in your own vehicle starting at $70, or use one of our company vehicles for $80. We also test drivers with interlock devices and those completing DUI or DWAI retests.
Starting April 1, walk-in testing is available Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning (9am to noon), and all day Friday. Appointments are required Wednesday afternoon and all day Thursday, including Saturday appointments for added flexibility.

How do the 2026 GDL law changes affect my teen?
Colorado’s updated GDL laws extend the 30-hour driver’s education requirement to all teens through age 18, not just drivers under 16 as before. Other core requirements stay in place: a 12-month permit hold, 50 hours of supervised driving with 10 at night, first-year passenger restrictions, and a midnight to 5am curfew. Enforcement is delayed until January 2027, but the law is already in effect, so we recommend Lakewood families get ahead of it.
Can I take the driver’s license test in my own vehicle?
Yes. You can test in your own vehicle starting at $70, or use one of our company vehicles for $80, at our Lakewood location.

It covers rules of the road, signage, decision-making, and the dangers of texting and drinking while driving, and includes the written permit test. It’s held monthly on Zoom from 4:30 to 8:30 pm.
